Last week the US announced the formation of a 30,000 member “border security force”, consisting of Kurdish YPG soldiers, which would be deployed along the Syria-Turkey border.
This is the same porous border through which ISIL mercenaries had smuggled stolen oil and who knows what else, before their recent shellacking by both Iraqi and Syrian armies, with help from Iraqi Shia militias, Hezbollah forces and Russian air power.
Western intelligence agencies had planned to supplant their defeated ISIL boys with Kurdish KDP Peshmerga to keep a destabilizing force in Iraq. But the Iraqi army easily ran them off the Kirkuk oil field, long-coveted by ExxonMobil. (https://hendersonlefthook.wordpress.com/2017/10/17/kurdish-independence-exxon-mobil-greater-israel/)
So the spooks and their banker bosses pinned their hopes on YPG irregulars in Syria, who butchered civilians in a much-publicized assault on tiny pockets of ISIL resistance which remained in northwestern Syria.
This “show” was followed by the announcement of a “border security force”.
Russia, Syria and Turkey immediately decried the notion, since the YPG have been fighting to topple the duly-elected Assad government since 2011.
On Sunday Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched Operation Olive Branch, sending tanks into the Syrian YPG enclave of Afrin in an attempt to “clear the border of terrorists” and “liberate the self-governing enclave from its repressive rulers”.
Tanks and troops were covered by airstrikes from Turkish jets. Russia lent tacit support to Erdogan’s offensive, after first proposing that the KDP hand over Afrin to the Syrian government.
The Kurdish lapdogs refused and the onslaught continues.
Today former ExxonMobil CEO and now-US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson accused the Syrian government of a chlorine gas attack in Eastern Ghouta. Syrian President Bashar Assad denied it and there has been no independent confirmation of the allegations.
Each time various bankster mercenaries are routed in Syria, the US pulls the ol’ poison gas card out of the hat. In each prior case, the allegations have proven to be baseless propaganda.
Tillerson then escalated things further stating that, “Russia ultimately bears responsibility for the victims in Eastern Ghouta and countless other Syrians targeted with chemical weapons since Russia became involved in Syria”.
In response to Tillerson’s menacing comments, Russia today began delivery of its new state-of-the-art S-400 anti-aircraft system to Syria. Two were delivered to Khmeimim Airbase in the Syrian province of Latakia, while two more were sent to a Russian maritime facility in Tartus.
Trump’s “border security force” Hail Mary in Syria has been batted down, this time by the Turks. Tillerson and his oil buddies must be wringing their hands as they watch Anglo-American hegemony in the Middle East crumble before there eyes.
