I’ve backpacked my way through 50 countries over the past 20 years, many of them on numerous occasions. After the 2008 elections, I booked us a series of one-ways that went Newark-Dublin-Abu Dhabi-Johannesburg-Katmandu-Bangkok-overland to Kuala Lumpur-Vancouver.
One thing that stood out along the way was the good will of people all over the world towards Americans. After years of terror suffered at the gun barrels of the US military-industrial complex. the collective thought seemed to be that maybe, just maybe, we Americans had at last elected a President who would shut down, or least curtail the Pentagon carnage.
Never was an American President been so loved abroad as Barrack Obama.
A big part of this sentiment was tied to the good riddance of Bush the Lesser, who was considered a laughingstock, a Nazi or both in most quarters. What really rubbed people wrong was that we re-elected him. How stupid could we be?
Fair question. Fast forward to 2014.
Not only has all of this international goodwill evaporated, there is a palpable hostility towards all things American the likes of which the world has never before seen. Who could blame them?
Turns out Obama’s foreign policy is bat shit crazy- complete with drones, assassins, monthly coups and a CIA not this out of control since the days of Nixon. Even little Dick Cheney must be pissing his pants in a corner over the temerity of Obama’s far-right interventionism.
Nah, probably not. Remember, the two are distant bloodline cousins. Hmm…
Aircraft carrier loom off the Korean peninsula. The US Navy is threatens Iran in the Strait of Hormuz for BP, the queen of Holland, Rothschilds Inc. and other unsavory welfare cases.
Not to mention the fiasco in Libya, the defeat in Syria, the massacre in Gaza done with US-funding, the fascist coup in Ukraine, the attempted coup in Venezuela (after the CIA assassinated Chavez) and the duplicity that is ISIS.
Led by an articulate and measured Vladimir Putin, the people’s of the global south have now officially had it with this Anglo-controlled, Saudi-financed, Israeli-spearheaded, US-funded and manned military/economic/political hegemony over planet earth and it’s people.
It’s a pretty basic concept. People don’t like it when a foreign military occupies their country. Neither would you.
This is why both Iraqi and Afghani governments will fail as soon as the US military withdraws. They should fail. and one already has. Both Malaki and Karzai are puppets of this City of London-controlled global oligarchy. Karzai used to work for Unocal, now part of Chevron. Malaki is a millionaire slumlord who fled to the south of France when Iraqis overthrew King Faisal II in 1958, ending the absurdity that is monarchy on their soil.
You will never win a war that puts you on the wrong side of history. It’s not about military tactics. It’s about political strategy. Political truism: If you prop up thugs, the people will hate you. And now they do.
That’s what happens when the CIA helps orchestrate the 2009 Honduran coup, where democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya was ousted by billionaire United Fruit-affiliated right-wing despots. Wrong side of history.
It’s what happens when Obama rubs shoulders with a Colombian regime whose human rights record is among the worst on the planet, while treating neighboring like a Rockefeller oil colony. Wrong side of history.
In Africa, Obama has stood aside while allowing Chinese economic diplomacy to prevail. In SE Asia, Obama should have condemned the Thai governments’ two crackdowns on “Red Shirt” protesters, which resulted in over 100 deaths in Bangkok. Wrong side of history.
In South Asia, we promise more aid to Pakistan, despite its support of the Taliban and other anti-American crazies. In the Persian Gulf, we back GCC monarchs and Israeli butchers, while opposing popular movements like Hezbollah and Fatah. Wrong side of history.
We prop up fascists in Ukraine and blame Russia. Then there is ISIS – created by the CIA and now being bombed by the CIA. Wrong side of logic, reason, history and seemingly designed to destroy our country.
Hey I said bloodline cousins. Hmm…
As the US debt approaches $18 trillion, it is time to call off the Pentagon dogs, shut down a whole bunch of overseas bases and deal with the rest of the planet as equals.
Empires perish. Bullies get their clocks cleaned. And Americans aren’t as stupid as the Israeli/Saudi-owned Fox News – where really dumb people learn how “smart” they are, then proceed to loudly and as rudely as possible tell the rest of us all about it – would have you believe.
